The IoT (Internet of Things), despite being around for about 16 years, remains a massive, complex, sometimes misunderstood and even contentious subject. UL recently participated in a round table discussion, alongside other companies from the IoT sector such as EnOCean, Frontline, Micron Technology and the Wireless IoT Alliance.

The round table aimed to discuss important issues associated with the implementation and evolution of the IoT such as security, technologies and standards.

After what was an open and insightful discussion, what was clear is that the IoT is certainly making services more personal, faster and better, accessible to all and available everywhere, but what was perhaps more evident was that all parties felt that it is time for IoT concepts to stop being discussed and real breakthroughs to begin that will make the emergence of IoT applications into everyday life a reality.
